About Me

I'm a recent transplant to Lafayette, Louisiana. I obtained my BA in English with a concentration in Rhetoric from the University of Alaska, Anchorage.  Rhetoric will continue to be a valuable foundation for me, but I decided to expand my studies to Literature and diversify my teaching choices.

I am a Graduate Assistant at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette in the English Department.  As such, I have worked as a tutor in the Writing Center, taken several Pedagogy courses, and taught "Introduction to Academic Writing" and "Research and Writing about Culture" in the English Department.

I have presented my research at several academic conferences and have published a book review through the peer reviewed journal Femspec, for which I am currently working on another review.  I am also excited to be the co-chair of the 2013 Louisiana Conference on Language, Literature, and Culture.

I completed my thesis and earned my MA in English Literature in May 2012 and have been accepted to the PhD Program at ULL and will continue my studies and Graduate Assistanceship here.  I am very humbled and proud to have been awarded the Robert and Bernice M. Webb Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching at the Entry Level.

I'm glad to be in Cajun Country Louisiana; I truly feel that this is exactly where I am meant to be while I develop my craft and engage with wonderful students and professors. As with my own learning and development, this site will continue to be a work in progress.
